In the efforts to deliver our commitment to our community, WISE Las Vegas is volunteering as generalists at the ‘Girls On The Run 5K' to empower our youth and make a meaningful impact on girls in our community.
The Girls On The Run (GOTR) Las Vegas organization welcomes WISE Las Vegas in delivering their organization’s mission in creating a space for belonging, activating limitless potential, and making a life-long impact that is bigger than sports. (Learn more about their Culture & Impact)
The GOTR 5K event reflects the organization’s value that enforces “confidence through accomplishment”: the closing event celebration for 3rd - 5th grade programs. This event is designed to welcome individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Volunteer coaches have facilitated lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. Together, participants will experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team as they complete the 5K—which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion. Generalist Volunteer: (WISE Recommended Commitment)
Event Set-Up: Responsibilities include helping to transform the UNLV campus into a 5K course and celebration by setting up barricades, hanging team signs, setting up the GOTR back drop and selfie station, setting up the Gratitude Wall and Inspiration Station, putting up the finish line, and set up registration.
During Event: Responsibilities include helping participants with directions to their parking, event registration, and other key event locations. This also includes providing guidance with registration, team parade, cheering along the course, handing out water at the Hydration Station, and handing out medals and snacks at the finish line.
Post Event: Responsibilities include helping to bring all gear and barricades back to the staging area.
*All volunteer participants must complete registration, confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement, and event waiver by April 11th (available here).
